Around (part of) The World in (more than) 80 days

I feel extremely fortunate that I've spent more than 80 days of my life travelling to many different places. If it's averaged out, I've spent about 10 days every year travelling. And that's just abroad.

Within that time, I've visited various islands in Greece, Italy, Spain, France, America as well as many places in the UK. I may not have spread my wings far oversees, but I've loved the places I've been to and seen so many different, amazing sights.

Venice, Italy

I had been wanting to go to Venice for over 10 years and it was well worth the wait. I was worried it was going to be a let down given the hype around it, but it is an amazing place. My friend and I were only there for 25 hours but we had the most amazing time; we saw all the main sights, walked for miles and kept our energy levels up with loads of pasta, pizza and gelato!

Los Angeles, California

Like Venice, I had wanted to go to Los Angeles for a long time. It was my first time travelling solo so was filled with a mixture of excitement and trepidation.
I have a cousin who lives out there and stayed in an air bnb with 4 young girls, however most of the time I explored alone.

I loved Santa Monica, Melrose Avenue, Sunset Boulevard and hiking to the Hollywood Sign. Venice Beach and Rodeo Drive were also worth a visit but weren't my favourite places. I scored tickets to see James Corden record his chat show, walked over the Crosswalk the Musical crosswalk, compared hand sizes with the rich and famous at the Chinese Theatre, walked among the stars on the walk of fame and went on a bus tour searching for famous stars in the flesh- we saw someone from the Rich Housewives of Beverley Hills... not the finest moment of the trip.

Mykonos, Greece

Mykonos was like Venice in that there were high expectations thanks to instagram and social media, however, it did not live up to the hype.

It was still a beautiful place, but having been to Greece for many years it did not feel like the authentic country we love. It was over-priced, and people just seemed to be concerned with getting the perfect instagram shot.

Nearby to Mykonos is the archaeological site of  Delos which is well worth a visit. This was once a functioning civilisation which is now uninhabited, but you can still make out how the town was laid out.

La Tania, 3 valleys, France

We spent Christmas in a ski-resort. Even though we don't ski. It was still nice finding walks, riding in the skiing gondaliers and spending time at the top of a mountain, and staying in a cosy chalet. I can officially say I had a White Christmas! On Christmas Eve we were treated to a visit from Santa and his 2 mascots- a giant duck and a beaver?!?

We took a day trip to Annecy, about an hour from the 3 valleys. It's a beautiful little town built around a lake. We found a cosy cafe to have lunch and may have sampled a few treats from the market stalls.

New York City

Everyone told us to wrap up warm when visiting New York in the middle of February. Needless to say we did not expect temperatures one day of 26 degrees Celsius... the 3 coats may have been a little too much.

From the hectic-ness of Times Square and Top of the Rock to the serenity of Central Park and Ground Zero, to the iconic landmarks of the Statue of Liberty and the Empire State Building to name a few, no wonder New York is the city that never sleeps.

The famous sights you see in films and movies became real life; catching a yellow cab, riding the subway, strolling through Central Park (albeit in the rain) and marvelling at the Statue of Liberty. And of course, shopping in Macy's!

Skiathos and Skopelos, Greece

Beautiful sandy beaches, delicious greek food and warm sunshine, sounds heaven. However the highlight of the trip was living my Mamma Mia fantasies and visiting the locations from the films.

Catch me doing my best Meryl Streep 'running up the hill' impression. (P.s the hill is so steep, there's no way she could run up there!)
