I've been lucky enough to visit some beautiful beaches. Sadly, not the one above, however there have been ones that come close to the beauty and tranquility of a tropical beach.
Kalogria beach- Stoupa- Greece
I first went to this beach when I was about 3, and it still remains my favourite beach I've ever visited. I celebrated my 18th and 21st here ,and hopefully will go back for my 30th. I learned to swim in this sea, honed my volleyball and 'clic-clac' skills, built epic sandcastles on the sand and seen an assortment of fish, a crab and a starfish while snorkelling.
The sand is white, the sea crystal clear and the beach is surrounded by eucalyptus trees- plus there's a cool beach bar where the view of the beach cannot be contested.
Cardiff Bay Beach/ Barry Island/ Dunraven Bay- Wales
Cardiff Bay beach may not be your conventional beach- it's a man-made beach in the centre of the city. The first time I visited with my friend we stumbled across it, not realising it was going to be there and we made a return trip the next year.
Barry Island in Wales was made famous in the TV series Gavin and Stacey. There's sand, arcades and yummy chips... what more can you want?
Dunraven Bay is another beach inspired by another TV series: Doctor Who. We've been there at high tide, low tide and in between. There's rock pools, boulders to clamber over and a vast expanse of sand. Of course my friend and I haven't re-enacted the scene of the 10th Doctor and Rose saying goodbye...
Santa Monica- California
Santa Monica was my favourite place when I visited Los Angeles. I felt cool for the first time in my life. It was March and I was able to sunbathe on the beach. I strolled along the pier, watched people bravely face the rollercoasters and had picnic of hot dogs and chips on the beach. I preferred Santa Monica to Venice Beach, and would love to go back.
Rhenia- nr Mykonos- Greece
I'd never heard of Rhenia before, but on a sailing day-trip we stopped off at this beautiful beach. It was the closest I've ever been to being on a deserted beach. Apart from another boat anchored offshore, we were the only people there. The water was crystal clear and the whole beach was absolute paradise.
Camber- East Sussex, England
My friend and I have visited this beach on numerous occasions across all 4 seasons. We've found our perfect spot, refined our packing list for every occasion and mulled over and planned various important life decisions here.
Each beach has contributed something towards ambeachious and I can't wait to add many more beaches to my list
xx
