La! to It's A Sin

When I like a TV programme, I really like a TV programme: Doctor Who, Outlander, Strictly Come Dancing... However few dramas have had the impact on me that It's A Sin has had. After binge watching the whole series in one night, I wanted to rewatch it straight away and was still thinking about it 3 days later. It was funny, sad and so so powerful.

I'm a big fan of the writer, Russell T Davies anyway but I wasn't expecting it to be as good as it was. The cast is fantastic, the writing superb and the music is great!

I was born in the 1990s so was pretty uneducated; the only exposure I'd had to HIV and Aids was knowing of Freddie Mercury. This show opened my eyes to the cover ups, blame and shame that so many people suffered. Doing research, I've learned 32 million people worldwide have died from Aids related illnesses and 700,000 people were diagnosed with HIV in 2019.

But I also learned that HIV is no longer a death sentence; treatments are available that mean people are able to live long, healthy lives. Foundations such as the Terence Higgins Trust have done so much work to fight HIV and Aids.

The Terence Higgins Trust have collaborated with Philip Normal to create a Tshirt with the iconic 'La' slogan. £20 from the proceeds go straight to the trust.

So to the gang at the Pink Palace, I salute you with 'La!'
